After falling by 0.1 percent in March 2022, the gross domestic product (GDP) of the UK climbed by 0.2 percent in the three months leading up to April 2022.
The main factors in April's GDP decline were services, which decreased by 0.3 percent. These factors reflected a significant decline in human health and social work (5.6 percent), as well as a significant decline in NHS Test and Trace activity.
Manufacturing declined by 1.0 percent in April 2022, which contributed to a 0.6 percent decline in production. Businesses are still reporting the effects of price increases and supply chain bottlenecks.
Additionally, construction decreased by 0.4 percent in April 2022 after experiencing high growth in March 2022 due to a significant increase in maintenance and repair work following the storms that occurred in the second half of February 2022.
