If you are in France, you can use Google Pay, as the service has expanded globally and is now available in the country. Customers from six French banks have access to the mobile payment service. Google Pay is also accepted by various online services and retailers in France.

Google Pay topped the list of the most popular apps for contactless digital payments among French people. In 2021, 70% of French respondents had heard of Google Pay, while 68% had heard of Apple Pay.

Google has entered a crowded market, as Samsung Pay and Apple Pay are already available in this European country. Google receives Visa and MasterCard support in France from six banks and credit card companies: Boon, Boursorama Banque, Edenred France, Lydia, N26, and Revolut. Up is said to be the seventh player.

With Google Pay, consumers in France can use their NFC-enabled smartphones to pay after they’ve linked a credit or debit card to the payments app. For payments less than 30 euros, simply unlocking the screen is sufficient. If users purchase more than this amount, they must authorize the transactions using security methods such as a fingerprint or a password.
