Google Pay is available in Finland. When using Google Pay, you won’t incur any additional charges. However, if you have funds in your Google Pay account that you wish to transfer out, transfer fees may apply. It’s important to note that transfers to linked bank accounts are free, while transfers to debit cards come with a fee of 1.5% or a minimum of $0.31.
In Finland, Google Pay enables tap-to-pay purchases using Android devices such as phones, tablets, and digital watches. The technology behind this functionality is near field communication (NFC), which allows your Android device to securely transmit credit card information to a point-of-sale (POS) system, making transactions quick and hassle-free.
By adding your cards to your Google Account, you can still enjoy the same rewards and discounts as with a physical credit card. Google Pay also supports peer-to-peer payments and online transactions.
To use the Google Pay app, you’ll need to unlock your phone. Depending on your security settings, this might require entering a PIN or using biometrics like Face ID.
It adds an extra layer of security because physical cards can be used by anyone who holds them long enough to read the card number. While you have flexibility over how your phone is unlocked, it’s important to note that Google Pay cannot be installed on a phone that doesn’t have a lock screen. You will be requested to enter a PIN individually on large transactions for added security.
Before using Google Pay, you must connect a debit or credit card to the app. You will be unable to use the service unless you add a card. Fortunately, you may add many cards, each of which might act as a potential payment method when you need to send money or make a purchase.
