Apple Pay is a global phenomenon that simplifies banking and money exchange between parties. While not every country supports Apple Pay, it is available in a wide range of countries across continents.

Apple Pay is accepted anywhere that accepts contactless payments, including vending machines, grocery stores, taxis, and subway stations. In apps and on the internet. For purchases in Safari on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac, use Apple Pay. We recommend that you bring your plastic card with you as a backup, as not all merchants in all countries accept contactless payments.

While Apple Pay is accepted by a wide range of retailers, there are still a number of businesses that do not support Apple's proprietary payment platform.

Most of these retailers fall into one of two categories: those that do not accept Apple Pay yet and those that have no plans to accept Apple Pay.

There are a number of larger retail chains across the spectrum that do not currently accept Apple Pay, regardless of which category they fall into. This includes:

• Walmart
• Dick’s Sporting Goods
• Bed Bath & Beyond
• Kroger
• Hobby Lobby
• Guitar Center
• Home Depot
• K-Mart
• Sam’s Club
• Lowe’s

Some of these chains accept contactless payments but do not accept Apple Pay. Walmart, for example, offers contactless payment platforms for its own first-party Walmart Pay service. Other retailers do not have a contactless payment infrastructure in place.
