Yes, it is now available in Belgium. Apple Pay in Belgium, like everywhere else, allows you to make purchases in retail outlets using the iPhone and Apple Watch’s contactless NFC chip. Apple Pay is also available on the web in Safari for iOS and Mac. Local launch partners in Belgium include Fortis, Fintro, and Hello Bank.
Every Apple Pay transaction is secure because it uses Face ID, Touch ID, or the device passcode. Apple Pay is accepted in a wide range of establishments, including supermarkets, pharmacies, taxis, restaurants, coffee shops, and retail outlets.
Apple Pay is compatible with nearly every payment terminal in Belgium that accepts contactless transactions. Customers can now connect their debit cards to Apple Pay. They will also be able to link their ING credit cards to the payment service at a later stage.
As a purchaser, Apple Pay is free; there is no additional fee beyond what you would pay with a card transaction. Apple Pay is accepted anywhere there is a standard NFC payment terminal, and Apple works with select retailers to promote Apple Pay usage.
Users can add Apple Pay to their iPhone via the Wallet app or add Apple Pay to their Apple Watch via the Watch companion app on their iPhone via the Wallet settings. Owners of the MacBook Pro with Touch Bar and the 2018 MacBook Air can also set up Apple Pay by going to System Preferences -> Wallet & Apple Pay. You can still use desktop Safari to make Apple Pay transactions if your Mac lacks a Touch Bar/Touch ID. When you’re ready to buy, authorize the payment with your iPhone.
