In October 2017, Apple Pay was introduced in Finland. In Finland, Nordea, Aktia, and ST1 credit and debit cards are compatible with Apple Pay.
People who own compatible iPhones, iPads, Apple Watches, and Mac devices can use Apple Pay to make purchases in retail stores and shop on supported websites. NFC card purchases are limited to 25 euros, whereas Apple Pay purchases are unlimited.
Apple Pay makes use of the ubiquitous contactless card readers that can now be found at nearly every retail store checkout in Finland. The service is available after a user creates an Apple Pay account with a participating bank. After creating an account, users can make credit or debit payments with their Apple devices, using fingerprints or passwords as identification.
Apple Pay is a safe method of payment. When you make a purchase with Apple Pay, a device-specific number and transaction code are used. As a result, your card number is never stored on your device or our servers, and when you pay, Apple never shares your card number with the merchant. Apple Pay does not save transaction data that can be traced back to you. Your most recent purchases are saved in your Wallet for your convenience, but that's it.
