Is Apple Pay available in the Netherlands?

Yes. Apple Pay has been available in the Netherlands since June 11th, 2019. Apple Pay can only be used in-store at certain merchants in the Netherlands. However, most cafes, shops, grocery chains, and petrol kiosks, from ALDI to McDonald's, should accept Apple Pay as long as the store has a POS terminal that accepts tap-and-go payments.

Apple Pay also enables you to make secure payments on websites and mobile apps. If you're ordering Kebabs through Thuisbezorgd or hailing an Uber ride, you can use Apple Pay to complete the transaction instead of entering your credit card information. That way, you can avoid storing your credit card information on their site, even if only temporarily.

Apple Pay is Apple's international payment service.This mobile payment service is available to users who own Apple devices such as the iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, or Macbook.

You can now pay with Apple Pay wherever you can pay contactless with your debit card. 

Using Apple Pay to make contactless payments is relatively secure. Each POS transaction generates a new security key. This key is transmitted to the card issuer. Furthermore, all transactions must be authenticated via fingerprint scan or code entry on your iPhone.

When you use Apple Pay in the Netherlands to make payments, Apple does not charge you any fees. However, the fees charged by the issuer of your credit card, prepaid card, or debit card apply in the same way that they do when you pay with your card directly.
