Google Pay is now available in Switzerland. Since May 2019, Swiss credit cardholders have been able to use Google Pay for their transactions. With Google Pay, customers can conveniently purchase at any merchant accepting contactless payments. The process is simple: unlock your phone and place it near the point-of-sale machine.
Google Pay is compatible with smartphones from various manufacturers, including Huawei, Nokia, Sony, and more. To use Google Pay for contactless payments, your smartphone must support NFC and Host Card Emulation (HCE) technologies.
Setting up Google Pay is a simple process for Android smartphone or smartwatch users, allowing them to start using it for their payment needs. Additionally, Google Pay accepts all Swiss credit cards issued by different providers, making them accessible to private customers.
Google Pay is compatible with several Swiss card issuers, including Bonuscard, Cornèrcard, Swiss Card, Swiss Bankers, UBS, and Viseca. Notably, credit cards offered by Migros Bank, Bank Cler, Valiant, and various cantonal and regional banks, are co-issued by Viseca.
In Switzerland, Google Pay is accepted in select online stores, expanding its usability beyond physical transactions. Most merchants in Switzerland who accept card payments also support contactless payments, enabling users to utilize Google Pay for most in-store purchases.
