Yes. Apple Pay is now available in New Zealand for ANZ customers with an iPhone. With Apple Pay, you can make purchases anywhere you can tap and pay with your compatible iPhone or Apple Watch. That means you can use it both in New Zealand and abroad.

Apple Pay makes it simple, secure, and convenient to pay for everyday purchases. All you need is an Apple device that is compatible and an ANZ Visa Debit or credit card. 

The only bank in New Zealand that accepts it is ANZ, which serves roughly half of all Kiwis. It is compatible with the bank's Visa and debit cards.

Apple stated that other banks would have to approach it if they wanted Apple Pay for their customers.

Apple Pay is essentially just a wallet that stores your card; all of the rules and limits are the same as they are with your current Visa or debit card.

So you can use Apple Pay at terminals without entering a PIN for purchases under $80, but anything more expensive requires you to enter one.

Apple Pay allows you to pay for items or services within apps on your iPhone and some iPads. This feature is not yet available in Kiwi apps, but it is available in a number of international ones. In the App Store, search for Apple Wallet. To make a purchase, open the app and select the Apple Pay option, then use the fingerprint scanner to authorize it.
