Apple Pay is now available in Romania, giving customers a safe and convenient method to make payments in stores, applications, and online. Several banks, including Banca Transilvania, ING Bank Romania, UniCredit, Revolut, and Orange Money, support the service, which began on June 26.
Apple Pay ensures customer security by not storing actual card numbers on the device or Apple servers. Instead, a unique Device Account Number is encrypted and securely stored in the device’s Secure Element, with each transaction authorized using a one-time unique dynamic security code.
Romanian customers can make payments using Apple Pay on their iPhone, Apple Watch, iPad, and Mac at stores, restaurants, taxis, vending machines, and more. Shopping in apps or on the web in Safari is also easier with Apple Pay, as account forms and shipping and billing information do not need to be manually entered. Transactions are authenticated with Face ID, Touch ID, or device passcode.
Visa has also announced that Romanian cardholders can use Apple Pay as the service expands to 13 European countries. The launch of Apple Pay in Romania marks a significant step forward in the evolution of the consumer payment experience, providing a secure and private way to pay for goods and services using contactless technology and Visa tokenization.
