American Express cardholders can earn more Membership Rewards points by booking trips through Amex Travel. However, if you don't have an American Express credit card, there is no significant advantage to using Amex Travel over other third-party booking services.
Amex Travel is an online travel booking portal similar to Expedia, Kayak, and Orbitz in the USA. It offers the option to book a complete trip or individual components such as flights, hotels, rental cars, or cruises. Customers can also book via phone to speak with a customer service representative.
Although there may be some small fees for flights booked through the portal, the benefits can outweigh the costs, especially for American Express Platinum Card® holders, who have these fees waived.
