Why is Google Pay not working today in India?

Try these fixes in the order listed, and check to see if Google Pay in India is working after each step.

1. Update the Google Pay app. You may be running an out-of-date app version, which is causing the issue.
2. Update your Google Pay card information. Check your card information, including expiration dates and CVV codes, to ensure it is correct. Enter your name exactly as it appears on the card.
3. Update your Google Pay phone number. For security reasons, Google Pay requires your correct phone number. Google cannot complete the purchase if you received a new number or entered it incorrectly.
4. Troubleshoot your internet connection. You can’t use Google Pay unless you have internet access, so turn on your mobile data or connect to a Wi-Fi network.
5. Make sure your phone supports NFC. If you can’t pay by tapping, check the official list of NFC phones to see if your phone is compatible.
6. Disable and enable NFC on your phone. To pay by tapping, your device must have NFC enabled. If the feature is already enabled, toggle it off and on to reset it.
7. Confirm your identity with Google Pay. If Google flagged your account for suspicious activity, or if you attempted to make an unusually expensive purchase, you may be asked to provide proof that it was you.
8. Clear the app cache. Apps should run faster with cached data, but too much old stored data can cause conflicts. Delete the Google Pay cache to resolve the issue.
9. Try a different card. If your card is grayed out on Google Pay, the vendor may not accept the card type, in which case you must use another card.
10. Contact your card issuer. After you’ve double-checked your card information, check to see if your bank hasn’t frozen your card, which can occur when you make a large number of online purchases at once.
11. Delete the Google Pay app. Remove the app and reinstall Google Play from the Google Play Store. You will need to reconnect your cards, but this may be the only way to repair a corrupted app.
