Benefits of the Marriott Bonvoy Amex in Canada

The Marriott Bonvoy Amex in Canada has a high earn rate — five points per dollar spent — on bookings at Marriott Bonvoy participating hotels. (This is in addition to the points you'll earn as a Marriott Bonvoy member.) You'll also get two points for every dollar spent on everything else.

Cardholders receive free Marriott Bonvoy Silver Elite status, which entitles them to 10% more points on eligible purchases, priority late checkout, and member rates at participating hotels. 

After charging $30,000 in net to your card each year, or when you combine ten qualifying paid nights within one calendar year with the 15 Elite Night Credits you'll receive each year you're a cardholder, you'll be able to upgrade to Gold Status.

The Marriott Bonvoy Amex in Canada also provides access to American Express Experiences, a collection of dining, shopping, and wellness events, and American Express Front Of The Line, which can assist cardholders in obtaining presale and reserved game or concert tickets.

Drawbacks of the Marriott Bonvoy American Express Card

Though you can use American Express Maps to find stores that accept Amex cards, all American Express cards have the disadvantage of not being as widely accepted by retailers as Visa and Mastercard.

If you haven't joined the Marriott Bonvoy program, you won't get the most out of the Marriott Bonvoy American Express Card. You can still earn Marriott Bonvoy points on all purchases, but not at a 5x rate, and your redemption options will be limited.

While the Marriott Bonvoy Amex in Canada provides generous travel insurance coverage, it isn't as comprehensive as other credit cards.
